Privacy Policy

LearnKit is a study tool published by Meriç Değirmencioğlu ("we"). It is available as this website (learnkitai.app), as a Chrome extension and as an iPhone and iPad app. This policy explains what each of them collects, why, and who processes it. Contact: meric1357@icloud.com.

Content you add

When you add a source (a file, photo, recording, video, link or pasted text) and ask for a summary, flashcards, a quiz or questions, the source is processed to create that study material:

• Files, photos, recordings and videos are uploaded from your browser or device directly to Google's servers through the Google Gemini API. Google deletes these uploaded files automatically after 48 hours.
• Pasted text, the text of a web page you send from the Chrome extension, and Word or EPUB documents are sent to our server (geospys.com), which stores them the same way, as a file in the Gemini API that Google deletes after 48 hours.
• Links are sent to our server, which opens the page and passes its text, or the video address, to the Google Gemini API.
• Google Gemini generates the study material and returns it to our server, which delivers it to you. Google processes this content as our service provider under the Google APIs Terms of Service and the Gemini API Additional Terms. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

Our server keeps a job record (the link or the uploaded file reference, your chosen settings, the generated result and the time) so it can deliver the result and limit abuse. The free daily limits are counted from these records. Job records are kept until you ask us to delete them, which you can do at any time by email (in the iPhone app also from Settings > Delete my data).

On the website and in the extension, your library (sources and results) is stored only in your browser on that device. Clearing the site's data or removing the extension deletes it. In the iPhone app it is stored on your device and is deleted when you delete the app.

Do not add content you do not have the right to use, or sensitive personal information about others.

Chrome extension

The extension reads a page only when you click one of its buttons ("Use this page" or "Use selected text") or choose LearnKit from the right-click menu. It then sends that page's text, the selected text, or the video address to our server as described above. It does not read pages in the background, does not record your browsing history and does not run on pages you have not asked it to use. Its permissions: activeTab and scripting (to read the current tab when you ask), sidePanel (its interface), contextMenus (the right-click item) and storage (your library and a random install identifier).

Subscriptions (iPhone app)

The website and the extension are free and sell nothing. In the iPhone app, purchases are handled by Apple. We use Adapty (Adapty Tech Inc.) to check whether your subscription is active. Adapty receives a random profile identifier, your purchase and subscription status and basic device information. We do not receive your payment details. Adapty privacy policy: adapty.io/privacy.

Identifiers and diagnostics

A random install identifier, created in your browser, extension or device, is sent with each request so our server can return your results to you and enforce fair-use limits. The iPhone app also sends its Adapty profile identifier.

Your IP address is used to protect the service from abuse and to count the website's free daily limit. We store only a salted one-way hash of it, never the address itself.

If a request in the iPhone app fails, the app may send a diagnostic report (app version, device model, iOS version, which step failed and an error code). Diagnostic reports never contain your sources, links, file names or generated content.

The website sets no advertising or analytics cookies.

What we do not do

No account is required. We do not show ads, do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and do not sell your data.

Children

LearnKit is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Your rights

You can ask for access to, or deletion of, data linked to your install or profile identifier by emailing us. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the Turkish KVKK) you may have further rights, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.
